 raphy&nbsp\;Helmi Attia is a&nbsp\;Principal Research Officer and former M
 anager of Advanced Material Removal Processes\, at the Aerospace Manufactu
 ring Technology Centre (AMTC)&nbsp\;of the National Research Council Canad
 a (NRC).&nbsp\;When he joined the NRC in 2002\, he was mandated to&nbsp\;e
 stablish and manage the Advanced Material Removal Technology R&amp\;TD Pro
 gram and Laboratory. Before joining the NRC\, he was a Principal Research 
 Engineer at Ontario Hydro Research Division (1980-2002)\, responsible of e
 stablishing and managing the Tribology-Fretting Wear/Fatigue Research Prog
 ram and Laboratory\, to support the operation of the CANDU Nuclear Reactor
 . Earlier\, he was the Manager of Fabrication Technology at Spar Aerospace
  Technology Ltd. (1979-80)\, contributing to the manufacturing of the Cana
 dian Satellite Subsystems.&nbsp\;Throughout his professional career\, Helm
 i maintained formal Adjunct Professorship appointments with a number of Un
 iversities to pursue advanced fundamental and applied research\, and to sh
 are the knowledge he acquired over the years through teaching and research
  supervision. Currently\, he is an&nbsp\;Adjunct Professor of Mechanical E
 ngineering at McGill University (2002-to date) and an Adjunct Professor\, 
 Dept. Industrial and Materials Science\, Chalmers University of Technology
 \, Göteborg\, Sweden (2020-to date).&nbsp\;His research interest includes
  advanced manufacturing (material removal and additive subtractive process
 es\, tool condition monitoring\, hybrid machining\; laser and vibration as
 sisted machining)\, tribology (cutting tools\, fretting wear/fatigue)\, he
 at transfer and CFD modelling of machining systems\, and thermal deformati
 on of machine tool structures. To his credit\, Helmi has authored/coauthor
 ed some 300 papers in archival journals and refereed conference proceeding
 s\, 5 book chapters and more than 125 technical research reports. He was a
 lso the principal/co-editor of 8 books and bound volumes.\n\nMore informat
