The very first Sentio PhD-course "Sensors for sustainable production" has been kicked off. Our students are now looking forward to an autumn filled with team-working, lectures, literature reviews, study visits and probably some more cups of coffee.

The aim is to equip our PhD students with comprehensive knowledge of sensor technologies and their integration into sustainable manufacturing systems. The course focuses on understanding sensor applications, signal types, limitations, and material selection, as well as life cycle perspectives, says Filip Lenrick who is responsible for the course.

The course will cover, based on the study area, a detailed literature review and explore state-of-the-art in sensor technology. But also study visits to explore and understand how sensors are used to deliver value to partners, customers and society.

Their studies will be compiled into a comprehensive report that will be presented at Sentio Days 12-13 March 2026.
